Our client that specializes in stationery manufacturing is currently looking to hire a highly experienced Procurement officer, to be based in Durban.
Summary of the role:
- The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing procurement strategies to optimize sourcing and supplier selection processes.
- Identifying potential suppliers, conduct supplier evaluations, and negotiate contracts and pricing terms.
- Managing vendor relationships and monitor supplier performance to ensure compliance with contractual agreements and quality standards.
- Coordinating with internal stakeholders, such as production, finance, and operations, to align procurement activities with business needs.
- Maintaining accurate records of procurement transactions, contracts, and vendor information.
- Monitoring inventory levels and forecast demand to ensure adequate stock levels while minimizing carrying costs.
- Reviewing, comparing, analysing, and approving products and services to be purchased.
- Managing inventories and maintaining accurate purchase and pricing records.
- Maintaining good supplier relations and negotiating contracts.
Essential and Mandatory Requirements
- Grade 12/ Matric
- Bachelor of Commerce degree majoring in Procurement and supply or any other related qualification.
- Minimum 5-8 years work experience in a similar role and within a production/manufacturing environment.
- Stationery manufacturing knowledge is an added advantage.
- Proficiency in Procurement /Buyer software systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
