Job Description

Purpose of the Role

The Project Management Specialist is responsible for real-time monitoring of infrastructure projects against approved performance baselines, developing monitoring tools and templates, and conducting comprehensive monitoring and evaluation (M&E). The role ensures governance compliance, accurate reporting, and continuous improvement in project execution.

Key Responsibilities

 Real-Time Project Monitoring & Performance Tracking

  • Monitor project scope, schedule, cost, quality, and risks against approved baselines.
  • Identify variances, escalate issues, and recommend corrective actions.

 Development of Monitoring Tools & Templates

  • Design and maintain standardised dashboards, templates, and reporting tools.
  • Automate reporting processes to improve efficiency and consistency.

 Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E)

  • Conduct evaluations on project performance, outcomes, and impact.
  • Produce high-quality, evidence-based M&E reports with actionable recommendations.

 Stakeholder Engagement & Client Liaison

  • Work closely with project managers, contractors, and stakeholders to validate data and resolve issues.
  • Provide technical support on monitoring processes and promote effective collaboration.

 Compliance, Governance & Reporting

  • Ensure alignment with project management regulations, governance frameworks, and audit requirements.
  • Produce accurate, audit-ready reports and maintain complete project records.

Essential Requirements

 Education, Knowledge & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in the Built Environment (Master’s degree advantageous).
  • Professional registration with SACPCMP (compulsory).
  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience in project management and contract administration within the construction industry.
  • Demonstrated experience in project monitoring, evaluation, and performance reporting.

 Skills & Competencies

  • Strong project management and contract administration capabilities.
  • Advanced real-time performance tracking and monitoring skills.
  • Ability to design and implement monitoring dashboards and templates.
  • In-depth understanding of M&E methodologies and frameworks.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship management abilities.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel, project management systems, and reporting tools.
  • Strong compliance, governance, and documentation orientation.
